UofT grads Alexandra Busgang and Jessica Simas are showing at the LasCaux Gallery. Simas curated Busgang’s work for the unique space. “Working through sculpture, video, and collage, she explores the psychological and environmental consequences of a culture that continuously rewrites and obliterates itself. The sustainability of this system is questioned by objects, images, and words descending into repetition and placelessness. Each quiet provocation asks the viewer to consider the relationship between time and perception, physical reality and internal thought where actions and ideas are repeated in a landscape of reoccurring cycles. Folding In is an investigation of the continuous present and the inevitability of collapse.”
The show opens on Friday October 14, at 8:00 PM. Gallery hours for October 15-16 will be from 12PM-5PM and by appointment until October 21.
