Here is a list of some of the new shows on display in Toronto this week.
Vancouver artist Stan Douglas is showing some of his new photographic work at The Power Plant. The show runs from December 10, 2011-March 4, 2012.
On Thursday, December 15, Martha Rosler will be giving a talk of Richard Florida’s idea of the Creative Class in Studio Theatre at Harbourfront Centre at 7:00 PM.
Steve Driscoll is showing his colourful landscapes while Michael Adamson is showing a series of c-prints examining paranoia in the Cold War and after at the Angell Gallery. Both exhibits run from December 8, 2011–January 14, 2012.
“Heroes” is showing at the MJG Gallery located at 555 Parliament St.
Works by Montréal artist Laurie Walker will be shown at the Susan Hobbs Gallery from December 8, 2011-21 January 21, 2012.
The mixed media group show “Comfort” is on at the Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts from December 7-18.
“GRAFT: Linking Textiles, Art and Science,” an exhibition which showcases printed textiles by OCAD students to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the discovery of stem cells is on at The Textile Musuem of Canada.
“TWELVE PEOPLE,” which is, appropriately enough, a group show featuring twelve artists from across the country (including Marco Buonocore, Zoe Solomon, Randal Fedje, Nicholas Robins, Laura Ramsey, Jonathan Mayhew, Alice Dixon, Vince Vining, Jason Cawood, SoJin Chun, Evan Tyler and
Alexandra Gelis) is running at Gallerywest from December 9-22.
The 15th annual “Christmas Spice” is on at Paul Petro Contemporary Art from December 9-December 24.
Jeannie Thib‘s “Column” is on at QueenSpecific from December 2, 2011-January 17, 2012.
The group show “murmurs” is currently on at Gallery Arcturus. It runs until January 30, 2012.
